Some institutions require cover letter which is basically just like 'letter of intent' except that you have to mention your electives detail, sponsor's detail and details of the documents you have attached with your application.

your research interests, career goals, and reasons for applying for training at the NIH. s do i write specifically bout my first choice of elective or a general letter...nd like what shud i write in terms of my career goals? i cant seem to understand wat format i shud adopt for the letter...plz if anyone could help me out here...

Your career goals are what you intend to do later in your career, and how you can utilize the experience acquired from this elective to help achieve your career goals. Although you would definitely work as a doctor and see patients in your career, you can address specific topics of research that interest you and adopt them as your career goals.

sir i am doin my final year mbbs in india.i want to apply for electives in final year(only 2 mts left) itself given that we ve finished the reqd no of clerkships..i want to know if our applns ll be processed..do students from other countries lik pakistan ve these core clerkships included in their transcript given tht thy apply bef internship.i shall be really grateful

While going through the sample of "cover letter" you have uploaded here, i came across headings such as passport no, passport copy as well as health insurance and malpractice insurance proof. Are we, really, required to submit these along with the cover letter?
