NY Letter

NY letter is mandatory for doing electives in any NY university.... its like a permission from NY state education department for your electives....its fees is 30 $; SUNY downstate requires it in advance with your application whereas all other universities of NY require it after your acceptance...the fees of 30 $ must be paid through a bank draft payable at any US bank..

there is another route to enter in usa by the way of getting admission in mph course........epidemiology and biostatistics....

done GRE nd ielts.

WILL DAT WUD B A SAFER AND GOOD OPTION TO TRY FOR IT.

the credit hours sumbody completes during MPH will be of any help to get a good residency.

and if yes, wat option to choose, biostatistic or epidemiology?

MPH certainly helps in getting a good residency spot but then u have to invest few years and a good amount of money on doing MPH... before getting residency...

dear himanshu, i also needed the infxn ctrl training for MSKCC n NY letter.

MSKCC directed me to this NY state nurses association training which would suffice even for NY letter..........the link u mentioned has this course also.........goto ur link-> scroll below ->> NY state nurses association --->> new york -----> infxn ctrl training course ---> register

It costs 25$ to do that online...............took me an hour to complete and then do the questions in the end. The qs r arranged sequentially as they are in the modules. so u just need to go back n revise while u r doing the qs.......(sorry for my cheating methods; but that way i sorted out the important topics) and u have 3 attempts to do that exam, otherwise u'll have to give again 25$. i passed on 1st attempt...u can too.......

after course u get a pdf certificate which u can save and print.i saved the copy and will use its prinout to send to NYSED. MSKCC sent me the dox list which i need to send to NY.......Inculding this infx certificate i think i need the NOC/letter of good standing from dean.

If our school was in NY list, then we would have not needed the NY letter. If u r not from accred schools, then you need the letter. As far as i know manipal alone is from india. we just need Short term letter........

I have not yet posted them the documents, I am waiting for some more options from MSKCC, then i'll mail them.............most probly by the end of next week.

I did 7 months...but as none of them was in... NY...so this rule (as far as I know)...does not apply to me...it wud apply only on those who have done more than 12 weeks of electives IN NY....
